We are here to help Fund members address a number of legal liability risks related to students and employees. The Fund provides legal liability guidance, training, General Liability and Professional Legal Liability coverage, and an array of services to members in the School Liability program at no additional cost.
Legal liability in schools
Schools face a number of liability risks related to both students and employees such as inappropriate relationships, bullying, and sexual harassment. Understanding these risks and taking practical steps to prevent them will help your district provide a safe and effective learning environment for students and staff.
Training your district staff on liability risks related to employment, student, and Title IX issues plays an integral role in reducing, or even eliminating, these issues. The training and resources provided by the Fund are aimed at addressing these risks, which can ultimately reduce incidents and prevent liability.

Legal Liability Risk Consultant Charli Searcy specializes in legal liability risks in public education, such as Title IX, student matters, and employment-related issues. She can assist members in finding solutions to address issues related to the variety of legal topics facing Texas public schools.
Some of the available services include:
- Developing and implementing training for Fund member employees
- Providing reinforcement of existing procedures or guidance on developing new procedures
- Evaluating procedures and making recommendations for improvement
- Educating members on issues such as Title IX compliance, cyberbullying, and more
The Fund’s specialized legal liability training empowers members with knowledge and resources to identify and address legal liability risks; learn about emerging and existing risks; and maintain compliance with policies such as Title IX.
