High quality medical care and medical savings
The Fund's partnership in the Political Subdivision Workers' Compensation Alliance (the Alliance) ensures injured workers receive medical care from qualified health care providers who share a common goal of providing quality care, treating according to nationally recognized treatment guidelines, and returning injured employees to work.
In addition, the Fund partners with Optum, a leading pharmacy benefits management company, to save costs on medication.
The Alliance, a joint partnership network of five risk pools including the Fund, achieved high scores once again on the Texas Department of Insurance Workers’ Compensation Network Report Card again this year. To receive the designation, a Workers’ Compensation carrier must meet or exceed 95 percent compliance with TDI requirements for accuracy and timeliness in claims handling.
TDI monitors compliance with the Texas Workers’ Compensation Act and Rules at least biannually. The Alliance has consistently been ranked a high-tier performer since 2007, when TDI implemented the first Performance Based Oversight assessment of high volume carriers and health care providers. Timely payment and accurate processing of benefits and medical bills, along with successful representation at the hearing level, are critical components in measuring the success of a workers’ compensation program.
TASB, as the Fund's administrator, is a licensed utilization review agent. In-house nurses handle preauthorization, and we employ two on-site, board-certified physicians. We also contract with dozens of peer reviewers to ensure appropriate care and to avoid paying for unnecessary or harmful treatment.

Flexible funding options
