4 requirements you need to know about

Gears that read compliance, regulations, policiesYour security program has to account for regulatory mandates. Recent announcements regarding school safety measures have centered on these requirements:

  1. Develop and maintain an emergency operations plan and annexes that support the five  phases of emergency management and outline the district's intended response to threats and hazards
  2. Establish a safety and security committee based on Texas School Safety Center guidelines
  3. Conduct emergency and safety drills every semester
  4. Provide access to Safe and Supportive School Teams to conduct behavioral threat assessments and deliver support to campuses

What about intruder detection audits?

The governor directed the TXSSC to conduct random, unannounced intruder detection audits at districts across the state. The goal is to identify weaknesses and discover how quickly TXSSC staff can access facilities without being stopped.

Train your first responders

The governor also directed Texas State University to offer Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) to districts across the state. ALERRT training is provided by veteran first responders with proven experience in active attack response.
