Privacy and Cyber Risk Consultant
Lucas Anderson joined TASB Risk Management Services in May 2019. He has more than 10 years of experience in the fields of cybersecurity, network administration, and information technology. Lucas has supported both public and private organizations including Booz Allen Hamilton, the White House Office of Management and Budget, the Department of Defense, and the Texas Association of Counties. Lucas advises districts on preemptive mitigation against ongoing and emerging cybercriminal threats targeting the education sector, as well as regulatory compliance related to cybersecurity regulation. Lucas has holds multiple technical certifications such as Cisco Interconnecting Devices (ICND), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), VMWare Certified Professional (VCP), and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). Additionally, he has a master's degree in international affairs from the George Washington University and bachelor's degrees in English and Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin.
Emergency Management and School Security Consultant
Melanie joined TASB Risk Management Services as an emergency management and school security consultant in 2013. She guides members through state emergency management requirements and helps them develop comprehensive programs to prepare for, prevent, respond to, recover from, and mitigate against a variety of incidents. Melanie began her career in emergency management in 2006 when she served as the public information and crisis communications coordinator for Williamson County providing support to school districts in Williamson and Travis County. Melanie also worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety–Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) in several positions, including assistant public information officer, regional planner and state and federal planner. She has a master's degree in Public Health Emergency Management from Benedictine University and bachelor's degrees in Journalism and Public Relations from Humboldt State University.
Workers' Compensation Program Consultant
Laura joined the TASB Risk Management Fund in September 1995. After serving as a manager for 10 years, she stepped into the role of Workers’ Compensation consultant, working directly with Fund members to help them navigate Texas workers' compensation reporting requirements for political subdivisions. With 30 years’ workers’ compensation experience, Laura is a regular speaker at professional education organizations around the state, including the Texas Association of School Administrators, Texas Association of School Business Officials, and Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators. Laura earned her Workers’ Compensation-03 license, as well as a bachelor of arts in mass communication from the University of Louisiana.
Legal Liability Risk Consultant
Charli joined TASB Risk Management Services as the legal liability risk consultant in 2018. She provides guidance to Fund members on student and employment-related risks such as bullying, discrimination, sexual misconduct, and compliance with Titles IX, VI, and VII. Charli previously served as a judicial clerk before practicing as an attorney in Mississippi. Charli is a regular speaker on legal liability risks at educational conferences hosted by the Texas Association of School Administrators and Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators. Charli holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Jackson State University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law.
