Marina Quilantan-Rivera joined the TASB Risk Management Fund Board in December 2020. She has served on the Lyford CISD School Board since May 2007. She currently serves as Lyford CISD Board president, and previously served as the vice-president. She is also a master trustee from the 2010 Leadership TASB class.
Quilantan-Rivera works at the Thirteenth Court of Appeals and has worked for Justice Gina M. Benavides for the past 33 years, with 20 years working for a private defense firm and the last 13 with the Court of Appeals. She earned a paralegal degree from Texas State Technical College.
Quilantan-Rivera is very active in her community and church. She currently serves as the secretary for the Lower Valley Cotillion Club Executive Board, as well as is the religious education coordinator for Prince of Peace Parish in Lyford.
She and her husband, Johnny, had three children. Unfortunately, in September 2012, they lost their middle child, Gabriella, in an accident. Their oldest daughter, Marlina, is an elementary teacher at Benavides ISD, and their son, John Nicolas, is recent graduate of Texas A&M University, a member of the Corps of Cadets, and was recently commissioned 2nd Lt. with the U.S. Airforce.
