Dr. Marcelo Cavazos
Arlington ISD Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos became a member of the Fund Board in November 2015.
Dr. Cavazos joined Arlington ISD in 1999 as associate superintendent for instruction and served as interim deputy superintendent for seven months before being named deputy superintendent in February 2009. Cavazos served as interim superintendent for six months before being named superintendent in December 2012.
He is very active in his community and has a rich history in education, starting as an English teacher at Mission Consolidated ISD in 1990.
Dr. Cavazos has previously served as a lecturer for the University of Texas at Arlington's Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. He holds a bachelor's and a master's degree from the University of Texas-Pan American and a doctorate degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
