Irene Galan

Galan was appointed to the Risk Management Fund Board in May 2003. She has served on the Big Spring ISD board since 1994, and has held the positions of president, vice-president, and secretary. Galan has participated in the TASB's Delegate Assembly and Grassroots Advocacy Network and is a graduate from Leadership TASB class of 2000.
Active in her community, she is president of the Howard County Teen Court, vice-chair of the Comanche Trail of Lights, and board member of the Scenic Mountain Medical Center Hospital and former board president of the G.O.P.B. Inc - Project Head Start of Permian Basin. In addition, Galan is a member of the Big Spring Code Enforcement Patrol, the National Association of Elected Officials, the Mexican American School Board Association and a Big Spring & Howard County United Way board member. She is also a member, Eucharistic minister, and volunteer of Scared Heart Catholic Church, along with being an Honored Member of Kensington Who's Who.
Galan is presently employed by the G.O.P B. INC - project Head Start as a Family Service Coordinator/Nutrition Facilitator for 11 sites and 4 counties in the West Texas Permian Basin.
