2015 Members’ Conference Focused on Present and Future Risks

April 07, 2015 Keely Morgan

The Fund welcomed nearly 500 attendees to the 2015 Annual Members' Conference March 29-31, 2015, at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center in Austin. The conference theme, Tomorrow Starts Today: Managing Risks Into the Future, focused on emerging topics in risk management.

With growing concerns about data breach and privacy risks, the conference featured a general session by Alex Ricardo and Sue Yi, from Beazley, the Fund’s partner in providing data breach response services. The Fund also provided a legislative update covering education-related topics under consideration at the 84th Texas Legislative Session.

Members had the opportunity to choose from 20 unique education sessions, including a new four corners session and a special case study track. The case study sessions demonstrated how the Fund can help when a major incident touches multiple lines of coverage.

This year’s keynote speaker, Dr. Derek Greenfield, had attendees on their feet in his highly interactive, motivational session. The Touchdown Club at the Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium hosted a conference dinner where members’ enjoyed a view of the legendary 40 acres and the Austin skyline.

At the Annual Members’ Luncheon, the Fund recognized the 2015 Innovation Award winners for their successful risk management efforts. Participants who turned in conference evaluations were eligible to win coverage credits toward their 2016 Fund year contributions. The winners were:

  • Everman ISD ($5,000)
  • Thrall ISD ($1,000)
  • College of the Mainland ($3,000)

In addition, members who completed a special technology needs survey were eligible for a $1000 credit. That winner was Hart ISD.
