Member Training

School districts and other educational entities face new risks every day. The Fund is here to help with training and resources that will help you prevent, reduce, and mitigate these risks. We recognize your time is valuable and provide training in a variety formats, including events, online training, live webinars, and recorded webinars.

What we offer

Summits

We bring daylong training courses on a relevant topic, usually centrally located in the Austin area. The most recent summit on safety and security was also made available virtually.

Members’ Conference

The Members’ Conference is a two and a half-day event where members can learn, connect, and succeed together. The conference always includes insightful education sessions on hot topics led by subject matter experts, as well as many opportunities to network.

Regional training

Designed to offer members training in all lines of business, these on-site training opportunities cover a variety of topics and are customized based on coverage lines. The Risk Solutions division is taking a proactive approach on these trainings, planning approximately four each year to members across the state. Topics include supervising for safety; managing workers’ compensation; vehicle collision and scene safety; managing chemical risks; and more.

Webinars

Exclusively for Fund members, these webinars provide high quality training to members without them having to leave their desks. The webinars are also recorded and can be sent to the members afterwards if they are unable to attend. Topics include coverage information; data privacy and cyber security; legal liability risks; emergency management; workers’ compensation forms; risk prevention tips; and more.

Online training

Through a partnership with Vector Solutions, we offer SafeSchools and SafeColleges online training courses at no charge to Workers’ Compensation Pool (fully funded and aggregate deductible) members.

Continuing education credit

Members attending live webinars can earn continuing education credit from the following providers:

  • Texas Association of School Business Officials
  • Texas State Board of Public Accountancy—No prerequisite courses required.
  • State Board for Educator Certification
  • School Board Member Continuing Education Credit—When noted
