OSHA and Texas political subdivisions

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is a part of the United States Department of Labor (US DOL), which covers private sector employers and their workers in Texas. Political Subdivisions, including school districts and community colleges, and their employees do not fall under OSHA jurisdiction and are not subject to these regulations.

Postings for political subdivisions:

  • If you choose to purchase multiple posting packets, be sure to confirm they are appropriate for Texas Political Subdivisions.
  • If the multiple posting packet includes the OSHA Job Safety and Health (Pub.3165) poster, it is not appropriate for your workplace.
  • The TASB Store carries workplace postings created specifically for Texas Political Subdivisions.

US BLS survey of occupational injuries and illnesses

A number of Fund Members have been contacted to take part in a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII).

What to know about the survey:

  • Participation in this Survey is strictly voluntary.
  • If contacted, Members can advise the agency they don’t have the resources available to complete the survey.

If you have questions on workplace postings, you can contact HR Services. For questions about the BLS SOII or OSHA, please contact your Risk Solutions Consultant
