Velinda Reyes was appointed to the Fund Board in January 2019. Velinda serves as president of the San Isidro ISD School Board of Education. She is a graduate of the Leadership TASB program class of 2017 with the master school board member designation. Velinda also served in various leadership positions within the Region One School Board Association (ROSBA) from 2015-2018.
Velinda earned a master’s degree from the University of North Texas and a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas Pan-American. She has worked in higher education in various roles of leadership, management and programming. She currently serves as the assistant vice president for community programs and operations under the Division of Governmental and Community Relations at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV).
Effective January 23, 2019, Velinda will transition her employment at UTRGV and begin a new career opportunity as the chief administrator for Hidalgo County Precinct 4. Velinda is active within the university, the local community and involved in various professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels.
