Emergency Management and School Security

Training Program

Schools must provide a safe and secure environment to ensure that students and staff are protected while at school. Legislation in Texas has several mandates in the areas of school security and emergency management. In order to help districts meet these mandates, TASB Loss Prevention Services has developed the School Safety and Emergency Management training program for school administrators, teachers, school safety officials and school support staff. Professional development training is fundamental in the prevention and management of school violence, reducing security risks and liability, and in being prepared to respond to and recover from specific situations should they occur.

The Emergency Management and School Security training program is designed to provide a comprehensive, school-centered learning experience with courses in the following areas:

  • School Safety and Security Audits
  • Exercising Your Emergency Operations Plan with Tabletops and Drills
  • Emergency Management 101: What the District Safety and Security Committee Needs to Know (including ICS 100 for Schools)
  • School-Based Threat Assessment Teams

Each of these sessions will assist your district in meeting the mandates and ethical responsibilities for keeping schools safe havens for learning.
