Report a School Professional Legal Liability Claim
School Professional Legal Liability (SPLL) provides members with coverage against claims of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination and other allegations of wrongful acts that result from day-to-day operations of a school district.
Examples:
- Injuries arising out of student discipline or punishment
- Allegations of discrimination due to gender, age, and/or race
- Alleged violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act
- Free speech, due process and other civil rights violations
- Violations of Texas Labor Code, Chapter 451
- Whistleblower claims
- Violations of the Texas Public Information Act
Claims Made Provision
SPLL coverage is unique in that it is “Claims Made.” The coverage is triggered by a claim for damages, not a notice of an “occurrence” or “incident” with a specific date and time. Members should report claims when they become aware a wrongful act has been committed or alleged.
