Loss Prevention Hot Topics: Environmental Protection Agency Caulk Advisory

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued guidance to school districts in reducing potential exposures to polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) found in caulk commonly used in building construction between 1950 and 1978. PCBs are a suspected cancer-causing agents that were banned by Congress in 1976. The agency recommends testing caulk from buildings built or renovated between 1950 and 1978 for PCBs.
