A celebration is in the works and you’re invited!

The Annual Fund Members’ Conference from April 19-21 at the Austin Convention Center is right around the corner! This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Fund and we would like to celebrate this momentous occasion with you! As always, there will be many informative breakout sessions from which to choose. And new this year, we will have a myriad of risk management roundtable sessions along with a special meet and greet session with TASB staff. This annual event is still FREE* for all Fund members who preregister! So, don’t wait, check out the conference agenda and click on the link below to register for this special event!

Before you register, please read:  You are not required to have a myTASB user id and password to register for the conference. You can choose the "No" option from the link below and register using the "Basic Registration form."

* Registration for the conference is free for Fund members if received by 5 p.m. April 14, 2009. On-site registrations or cancellations received after the cut-off date and time, guests, and no-shows will be billed $35 each.


Conference Location

You can find more information and maps on the Austin Convention Center (ACC) Website. When you arrive, make sure you enter the ACC from the 4th street entrance and the conference is just one escalator ride up! The ACC is conveniently located near the Fund hotel room blocks at The Marriott Courtyard, Marriott Residence Inn, and Hilton Garden Inn. Hotel room blocks fill up fast, so reserve a room soon! The cut-off date for reservations is March 28, 2009. Alternate hotel information will be published if and when the room blocks above are sold out.

The Guest List

Superintendents, safety personnel, risk managers, business managers, human resources staff, and other auxiliary staff responsible for risk management functions should attend. Guests of Fund members are also welcome for a fee of $35 per person.

What is on the Agenda?

We start out Sunday evening with an early bird reception with light hors d’oeuvres on the 18th floor of the Hilton Garden Inn. On Monday morning, our key note speaker, Vicki Hitzges, will kick off the day and there will be plenty of session topics to choose from. Monday night, enjoy a complimentary buffet dinner at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum with colleagues and TASB Staff. Tuesday, you can attend the risk management roundtables or meet-and-greet TASB Staff session and one more  breakout session. The conference will conclude with a legislative update.  

Coverage Credits

What would an anniversary be without presents? Again this year members will receive special coverage credits just for attending conference! Our traditional coverage credit drawing will also be held at the conference conclusion on Tuesday after the legislative update. Your district can win $1,000, $3,000 or  $5,000. Do not leave early! You must be present to win.

Continuing Education (CE) Information

Several types of CE will be provided again this year. Be sure to check out the e new CE procedures.
