Fund Conference will focus on emergency preparedness

by Stacy Hobbs

From April 20–22, the Fund will provide another FREE conference for members at the Renaissance Hotel in the Arboretum area of Austin. And this year, after the Early Bird Dinner on Sunday night at Serrano’s Café and Cantina, preparing for the unexpected will be the central theme for the educational program.

On Monday, after our inspiring and accomplished key note speaker, Steve Gilliland, delivers his message, there are 20 different breakout sessions that will take place throughout the day. At noon, Innovation Award winners will be announced and awarded with their plaques and $1,000 checks. Monday evening members will continue to enjoy a complimentary reception with a buffet and entertainment provided by the popular Austin band, Blue Mist.

New this year on Tuesday morning, in lieu of breakout sessions, members will benefit from a special general session from 8:30–11:30 a.m. (short break at 10:00 a.m.). Special guests from Colorado and Platte Canyon High School will present a powerful message on the Platte Canyon High School shooting incident that occurred on September 27, 2006, providing information on important lessons learned. This session is not to be missed.

Coverage Credits will again be awarded to Fund members that attend the conference and our traditional coverage credit drawing for $1,000, $3,000 and $5,000 will take place immediately after the Tuesday general session to conclude the conference. Details on the coverage credits will be placed in the conference program delivered at registration. Be sure to turn in your conference evaluation after the Tuesday general session and stick around, because you must be present to win in the drawing!

Interested in attending? All conference information, including registration and host hotel information is located on the Fund Web site. We hope to see you there!
