Loss Prevention Grant Reminder
by Charles Hueter
If you want to reduce your Workers' Compensation or Property/Casualty losses, the TASB Risk Management Fund wants to help you. However, time is running out! The deadline for the Loss Prevention Grant is March 7th and it would be a shame to pass up an easy and effective way to fund the projects placed on your budget's backburner.
Grant applicants that seek to reduce Workers' Compensation losses must be currently enrolled in the WC pool program. Applicants seeking to manage Property/Casualty losses must be a current member of the property or auto programs. You must also remain a member in the applicable program for the duration of the 2008–2009 fiscal year. Of course, if you're enrolled in both, you can apply under both at the same time. Up to $4,000 can be awarded depending on program participation, so this is a great opportunity to upgrade the cafeteria's fire suppression system, replace creaky ladders, or expand your security camera coverage.
More than 1,100 Loss Prevention grants have been awarded and over $2.9 million distributed back to the membership since we began the program more than 10 years ago. The grant is available through www.tasbrmf.org under Awards and Grants, and we suggest you speak with your Loss Prevention Consultant for ideas and recommendations. Remember that this is a competitive grant and not all applications will be approved. Those that have well-written justifications and demonstrate time and thought invested in the concerns you wish to address are more likely to receive a fully-funded grant.
