Proof of Coverage

Is your school in the 2010 football playoffs? Will you be traveling for any other sporting events? Do you lease equipment, such as copiers, from a vendor? If so, then you may need a certificate of coverage or loss payable letter.

A certificate of coverage or loss payable letter is used to prove to an outside venue or vendor that you have coverage for your district or the equipment you may be leasing, thus eliminating extra insurance costs. The TASB Risk Management Fund’s modified self-funded plan was set-up, through Fund Bylaws, specifically for education-based political subdivisions, and does not allow for other entities to be named as additional insured. The Fund does not use the “standard” Accord forms that many commercial carriers provide as proof of coverage.

If an outside venue or vendor is requiring proof of coverage, contact the TASB Underwriting Department for proper documentation. TASB staff will send a certificate of coverage or a loss payable letter to you or your vendor right away. If the certificate of coverage letter does not satisfy the place of venue request, we are able to help procure a special event policy naming the venue as additional insured. For more information, contact the TASB Underwriting Department at 800.482.7276, ext. 6270.
