Giving Back in 2011: Loss Prevention Grants and Innovation Awards
By Charles Hueter and Allison Kaminsky
Membership in the TASB Risk Management Fund brings many benefits such as unrivaled expertise, timely service, and coverage you can trust. Our strong financial position allows us to provide yet another benefit: giving back to membership by responding to your needs and recognizing your actions.
Some projects do not get the attention they deserve due to budget constraints, but sometimes spending a little can save a lot. For help addressing safety problems that could cause costly injuries or property losses, the Fund offers the Loss Prevention Grant program. Members enrolled in the Fund’s Workers’ Compensation, Property, or Auto Liability programs can apply for up to $4,000 to help pay for safety equipment, training, and services such as:
- Surveillance systems
- Upgraded fire suppression equipment
- Fall protective equipment
- Personal protective equipment
- Driver safety training
Because slips, trips, and falls are such a challenge for our members, grant applications targeting those claims will receive funding priority. The online grant application goes live January 3rd, 2011 and will close on March 4th. Once you have opened an application, you may edit it as often as you like until the March deadline. Contact your Loss Prevention Consultant for more information.
If you have already implemented a risk management initiative and have yielded successful results, apply for the 2011 Innovation Award. Each year, the Fund recognizes up to ten members for their original and inventive risk management programs, products, and initiatives. Winners will be recognized at the 2011 Members’ Conference in April, and awarded $1,000 to use toward ongoing risk management efforts. The online application is available now, but don’t wait! The deadline for submission is January 28, 2011.
