Thinking Outside the Box with the TASB Risk Management Fund

“When you're trying to create things that are new, you have to be prepared to be on the edge of risk.” -Michael Eisner
Does your district think outside the box? Color outside the lines? Dance to the beat of its own drum? If so, you need to apply for the 2012 Fund Innovation Award! For almost ten years, TASB Risk Management Fund has rewarded members who were able to take a risk management issue known by all and construct a solution in new and innovative ways.
Applications are now being accepted for the Fund’s ninth annual Innovation Award. Up to ten members will be recognized for their ability to see a cost-effective, original, and transferrable solution where everyone else saw a problem. During the annual Fund Members’ Conference in the spring, honorees will be presented with a commemorative plaque, $1,000 to apply toward continuing risk management efforts, and the opportunity to present your innovative initiative, product, or program to other Fund members.
To get started, take a look at last year’s winners and how their innovative idea catapulted them into the winner’s circle. Visit the Fund’s Web Site for a complete list of eligibility and selection criteria, and to download the application. Applications can be faxed to 800.580.6720, attention: Innovation Award c/o RMS Member Support Services, or e-mailed to RMS.Training@tasb.org. All applications must be received by January 18, 2012 to be considered.
Award recipients will be notified in mid-March. Checks and awards will be presented at the 2012 TASB Risk Management Fund Members’ Conference luncheon on April 16. Check back in January 2012 for more conference details. For information on the Innovation Award, contact Melissa Cannon at 800.482.7276, extension 7245.
