Awards and Grants

The TASB Risk Management Fund Innovation Award and Loss Prevention Grant Program are annual offerings of the Fund that allow members to fund and implement certain risk management efforts to reduce losses, costs and injuries.

Innovation Award

The Innovation Award, unlike the Loss Prevention Grant, is awarded for an established product. Entries are evaluated on cost effectiveness, originality, transferability, and the ability to address needs at the overall member level.  Entries can include, but are not limited to, training programs, newsletters,  safety programs, and wellness programs. Up to 10 members may be selected each year to receive a $1,000 award. The award checks and plaques are presented at our yearly Fund Members' Conference. 

Loss Prevention Grant

The purpose of the Loss Prevention Grant Program is to provide our members with opportunities to reduce losses and raise awareness of safety issues. In past years, grant monies have been used to mitigate potential loss exposures through the purchase of personal protective equipment, mechanical lifting devices, fall protection equipment, funding defensive driving training and driver improvement courses, addressing fire protection and electrical safety initiatives, and obtaining facilities security equipment. The grant program is distinguished from the Innovation Award in that members are not required to submit an established product for entry.  Grants are awarded on the basis of the value of justification, the expected loss prevention outcomes, and the quality of the application.
